How to connect gsu VPN?

Want to access Georgia State University (GSU) resources from anywhere? You need to connect to the GSU VPN. It’s easier than you think! Follow this simple guide, and you’ll be online in minutes.

What is GSU VPN?

GSU VPN (Virtual Private Network) lets you securely connect to campus resources from off-campus locations. It helps you:

  • Access library databases
  • Use internal GSU websites
  • Securely browse with encrypted data

Now, let’s set it up!

Step 1: Download and Install Cisco AnyConnect

GSU uses Cisco AnyConnect for VPN access. First, you need to download it.

  1. Visit GSU’s technology page.
  2. Search for “VPN” in the search bar.
  3. Find the link to download Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
  4. Download the correct version for your device (Windows, Mac, etc.).
  5. Install it by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 2: Connect to GSU’s VPN

Now that you have Cisco AnyConnect, it’s time to connect.

  • Open the Cisco AnyConnect app.
  • In the box that appears, type: vpn.gsu.edu
  • Click Connect.

You’ll see a login screen. Enter your GSU username and password.

  • GSU Username: Your CampusID (not your email!)
  • Password: Your GSU password

Click OK. You might need to accept security notifications.

Step 3: Authenticate with Duo

GSU VPN uses Duo Multi-Factor Authentication for security.

  1. After entering your password, you’ll see a Duo prompt.
  2. Choose how to verify:
    • Push Notification: Approve it on your phone.
    • Call: Answer and confirm your login.
    • Passcode: Enter a code from the Duo app.

Once you verify, the VPN should connect.

Step 4: Confirm Your Connection

To make sure you’re connected:

  • Look for a lock or key icon in your taskbar.
  • Open a browser and visit this page to see if your IP has changed.
  • Try accessing a GSU-only resource (like library databases).

Step 5: Disconnect When Done

When you’re finished, always disconnect.

  • Open AnyConnect.
  • Click Disconnect.
  • Exit the app.

This keeps your connection secure and prevents unnecessary internet slowdowns.

Troubleshooting Tips

Having trouble? Here are some quick fixes:

  • Wrong Username/Password? Check if your CampusID is correct.
  • Duo Not Working? Try using a passcode instead of a push.
  • No Connection? Restart your Wi-Fi and VPN app.
  • Still Stuck? Contact GSU IT Support.

Enjoy Secure Access Anywhere!

You did it! Now you can access GSU’s resources from anywhere in the world. Stay secure, and happy studying!
